Bill Nye Pollution Summary

In the video pollution solution number 2570, Bill Nye helps us try to understand pollution of the earth in the form of toxic wastes, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and noise. He states that the earth is an ecosystem and demonstrates how human beings, industries, and other facilities pollute the earth which is a closed ecosystem. He further states that most of pollution comes from human beings but not big factories and power plants that everyone thinks. This takes place in the form of small vehicle engines, the noise that people make and lawn mower. All these are referred to as non-point source pollution. Bill Nye offers solutions to different types of pollution. He states that air pollution can be reduced by planting more trees which reduce …show more content…
Cars play a major role in the pollution of air because the carbon these gas produce spreads out in the entire ecosystem leading to air pollution. Bill Nye offers a solution to this kind of pollution by stating that electric cars would be more considerable compared to fuel cars. These electric cars are charged at a central electric power plant where the air is filtered and released into the atmosphere. As part of a solution towards pollution, Bill Nye advocates for the use of energy saving machines in every household because the use of more energy leads to high rate of pollution in the atmosphere. He also advocates for the use of biodegradable produces like plastics rather than the non-biodegradable ones which would decompose in case they are disposed of. An example is the manufacture of biodegradable plastic which would decompose in case they are disposed to the environment unlike plastic made from petroleum which is non-biodegradable. Manufacturing industries also play a major role in the pollution …show more content…
Garbage waste can be in the form of biodegradable waste and the non-biodegradable waste. All natural creatures make and dispose of waste, but human beings are the only living creatures that make non-biodegradable waste. These include plastic paper bags and plastic bottles. All these make up the trash and waste the people dispose of every day in the form of trash. A lot of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste is disposed of every day across the globe which piles up in areas they as disposed to. Biodegradable waste like yard waste can be collected in a large land field and decomposed using modern facilities and used to manufacture compost which can be sold to farmers for planting. This implies that biodegradable waste can be recycled for other uses unlike non-biodegradable waste like plastics. On this note, Bill Nye advocates for the use of more biodegradable products and recycling of non-biodegradable waste so that the environment is saved from pollution. The non-biodegradable wastes liked papers and plastic bottles can be done away with by reducing, reusing and recycling them as the video states. The non-biodegradable should be dumped in a central place like bins in cities where they are collected in huge garbage trucks which transport them to recycling facilities. For instance, plastic waste and ole vehicle tyres can be converted back to oil and gases which can be used to manufacture plastic again. By

Many organization and company has developed ideas to reuse and recycle the waste products to generate new items. Landfill Natural Gas and Waste To Energy, which involves converting non-recyclable waste into heat, electricity or fuel, are turning trash into energy and power sources, giving garbage a second life and helping to solve the problems of garbage collection and disposal. Technologies to manage and recycle waste products should be implemented in places like Hawaii where collection and disposal space is a major concern, and in Beijing where land energy are needed, and trash generated is plentiful. In South Carolina, one of the most renowned BMW auto manufacturing plant is powered by trash from nearby landfill. In the same way, everything from waste that can be used to generate energy or power sources should be properly…

Air Pollution Policy and Controversy Rachel Carson boldly warned the American people in 1962 that if the United States continued its agricultural and industrial practices, songbirds would cease to exist. Losing an important part of the ecological food chain would have repercussions, possibly worse than we could imagine. While literature like Silent Spring helped bring attention to environmental concerns in the mid to late 1900s, several fatal disasters struck a stronger chord. Smog in Pennsylvania and the fire-lit Cuyahoga, for example, illustrated just how dearly the environment needed policy reform.…
