Green tea has numerous health benefits and has been used for thousands of years. It is derived from a plant called Camellia and is steamed to maintain its green color. How does green tea aid in better health and weight loss? Health Benefits of Green Tea Green tea has countless health benefits. It contains chemicals called polyphenols that help to prevent sickness and disease by boosting the immune systems functions. In addition, it is soothing to the body and encourages vitality and alertness. Green tea is also good for the heart. It prevents clotting of the blood, swelling, high blood pressure, and lowers cholesterol. These are all factors that can cause heart attacks and other heart conditions. I know I have heardthis opinion many times in conversation about weight loss surgery. The people who make thisstatement, of course, are those who have never undergone this procedure themselves. Myreply to this is "The easy way out of what?". This gets their attention right away. Is this the easy way out? Not a chance! Yes, the weight loss is rapid and encouraging early on, but it is not an easy way out by any means. We put our very lives on the line when we go in for this surgery. We risk suffering from several different complications during and after surgery. With having major surgery, we face a recovery period, that can be tough. But this is just the beginning. We must change what and how we eat, when we eat, and why we eat & we must be sure to get in a minimum of 64 oz of water daily. It is important that we make several major lifestyle changes during our rapid loss period, if we are to succeed in the long term. What 's easy about this? Oh sure, we may be very sloppy about following the rules and making the changes, and still lose 100 lbs or more. But, what happens after our "honeymoon" (rapid loss) phase ends? If we have not made the necessary changes to our eating, water intake, activity levels, our relationship with food and other lifestyle habits, we can, and likely will regain part if not all of our lost weight.
