As a young man of 18 who has yet to make his fortune in this world, I found this to be a very interesting article and I did take the time to listen to a snippet of the book on Youtube. I have to admit that at first I thought it would be boring, but after listening to it on Youtube; it turned out to be an okay book. Like most people in the world, I would like to be “rich” by the world’s standards in regards to financial gain. As a man, I want to be able to take care of my wife and children and provide for all of their needs, pay my tithes to my church, and help my fellow man. We see a hardworking man who is wondering about his lot in life and feeling that he deserves more. He reminds me of people these days who are always looking over the fence thinking that the grass is greener on the other side. Honestly, I have asked myself why some people can be so rich and others have nothing. It just seems so unfair.
Chapter 2: The Richest Man in Babylon The story of Arkad unfolds as the author tells us of how he went from having nothing at all to acquiring much to become the richest man in Babylon. Arkad tells us of how he came from having nothing. He tells us how he made up his mind to be prosperous and purposely set out to gain, retain, and grow wealth through a series of mistakes. He tells us of his wealthy mentor, Algamish, who advised him along his journey to wealth. As a young man, I realize the importance of seeking the advice of my elders and those who have gone where I want to go. Not only is it important to seek the advice; it is also important to put the advice into action.
