In 1909 the White government made a Aboriginal Protection Act to “protect aborigines for the better good” of aboriginals, but in this era half blooded aboriginals who were called half castes, were removed from their homes and family and went to live in the white communities. A.O Neville was in charge of the Aboriginal Protection Board in between the years of 1915-1940, but Neville always put white Australians first giving them clean water and sustainable living conditions. At the time he had a lot of power and no one could stop him from removing half castes from their families. This still has effects on many indigenous people today not having as many opportunities to employment or freedom as white Australians. In 2008 Kevin Rudd made an apology speech to all Aboriginals who had suffered immensely throughout their lives and to say sorry for the stolen generations “We apologise especially for the removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, their communities and their country.” Rudd's speech gained popularity throughout Australia quickly, with more Aboriginal families feeling more at ease knowing that white Australians are truly sorry for their actions, this speech aimed to bury the hatchet and look forward to a brighter future but some aboriginals say the Government didn't do enough to help support
