But on the big screen, society loves Goth culture they just don’t know it. Modern society has adapted to the Goth subculture and welcomed it to their lifestyle. Some might even overlook it and not even notice it around them. For example, Tim Burton is a very famous name in the movie making industry, many of his movies are very popular including: The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, and Beetlejuice. Tim Burton film style is Gothic his movies include a dark/gloomy tone that has some horror elements to it with otherworldly creatures and most of society loves it. Beetlejuice’s main character Lydia Deetz, played by Winonna Ryder , is a Goth teenager. Beetlejuice is a movie that investigates what happens to a person after you die. Because of Lydia’s Gothic or weird and abnormal nature gives her the ability to see the ghostly couple that lives in her new house. This movie takes the approach to death and puts a humorous spin on it. Edward Scissorhands is another Tim Burton movie with the main character that is consider to be a Goth. Based on what people think about Goths they imagine them to be scary, rude, or even demon like. But in this movie you see a very sweet man that would do anything thing for anyone and not think twice about it. This goes against every thing people think about Goths. This movie shows what it is like to be a Goth in the modern society. Edward is found all alone in a mansion by a lady named Peg. She takes him to her household where her family accepts him. Peg’s family doesn’t even notice that Edward is different. They think he is like any other teenagers just like her daughter Kim. The families of Peg’s community tries to understand Edward and get to know him better. But, there are other teenage boys who bully Edward because they do not understand him and do not want to.
