I thoroughly enjoyed reading Doctor Zewei’s article and his analysis on the Celestial Empire of China. This specific article goes through elements of the Celestial Empire and its Tributary System order based on the Confucianism World of China’s collapse and how China’s scholars began to accept, and study the international law that we know now today in China (Yang Zewei, 2016). (Yang Zewei, 2016). Dr. Zewei’s article brings to light how the defeat of the Qing Empire was the final push that forced Chinese scholars into learning about international relations. (Yang Zewei, 2016). Dr. Zewei also mentions in his article how the integration of the modern law came to be, when China had no choice but to compromise with western powers. Steinberg’s article lets the readers understand what the non-government organization (NGO’s) are all about and the power they have in society. After reading this article one can also have a better understanding of human rights and a vast understanding of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Dr. Steinberg talks about the soft power that NGOs possess and their ability to cause change on the topic of human rights (Dr. Steinberg, 2016). NGOs have their ways of helping others and getting their points of view out by using organizations like the United Nations. In his article Dr. Steinberg tells the readers about the influence NGOs have over political conflicts. He also gives the readers good details about Israeli foreign and security policies. The writer speaks of organizations like Amnesty International that was created to abolish torture and speak for prisoners mainly in the areas of Eastern Europe and Africa (Dr. Steinberg, 2016). Even though NGOs can do great things they can also have lacks of checks and balances and transparency (Dr. Steinberg, 2016). According to Dr. Steinberg several NGOs have hidden agendas and ways of doing things that the public does not see in the media, powerful NGOs like HRW, AI, FIDH. In his article he also covers details about how NGOs influence countries like Israel during war. Dr. Steinberg’s examples on how NGOs are using their soft power techniques on hard power targets is defiantly growing. One can say that the writer does an excellent job
