What is the meaning of “Family”? According to the English dictionary the meaning of family is the father mother and the child. This is the basic definition of “Family’’. In general people see the word family as to the people we are somehow related to by birth. Family for me is more than that is more about those people who open the life door and let us in, like friends and in-law relatives. The meaning can differ different meaningful things and it all depends on when and how we use it. In the story “sonny’s blues” by Baldwin James, the theme family was out in a situation very common now a days because there’s always the “bad” son/daughter who is the trouble of the family. There is always “that” older/younger sibling who feel they have the need of watching over their brothers. “ I didn’t want to believe that I’d ever see my brother going down, coming to nothing, all that light in his face gone out, in the condition I’d already seen so many others( Baldwin 272).” This quote is very strong as to why other siblings feel the need to look after the other because we feel that if we can do anything about as their “family” who will. For others the word family may not mean the same thing as to others. Fortunately now a days we can choice who we want around and who we want to name part of the family. In this era, the society has changed the ways of seeing a lot of thing, for example same sex married, more equal rights, and etc. When it comes to family member what really is a family…
