Family Relations In Sonny's Blues And The Metamorphosis

A family is one of the most important parts in our lives. They help you through the adverse times by finding ways to make you happy through these difficult and tough times. A family does everything they can to help lead them through bad times and this theme of family relations is prevalent in “Sonny’s Blues” and Kafka’s The Metamorphosis. In both works, the authors develop situations in which families had to help one another through very tough times in their life. For instance, Sonny has to deal with drugs and Gregor turns into a beetle and becomes ill. Although many people would not have the patience to help someone through these stages, in each case, families did what they had to do to help.
First, in Sonny’s Blues, family relations played an influential role in the way they grew up. In this work, the family history which result in the father having a brother who was a musician, then the narrator and sonny who was a musician, and the narrator two son may go down that path too. However, in both works they truly were able to describe the importance of family and how they can keep you on the right path and also how overly stressed a family can be by facing unexpected obstacles.
