Gilgamesh and Enkidu is the main characters of an epic poem from ancient Mesopotamia. In the “Epic of Gilgamesh,” a story written by Martin Puncher who reveals the special chemistry of both characters throughout the story. In this astonishing story, a person brutal actions can reveal who a person really are but also can change an individual lifestyle through friendship and love. People mostly choose what type of friendship they want, however in this epic story Gilgamesh and Enkidu friendship was unanticipated. People compete with each other unconsciously and consciously every day.
Friendship is not only being loyal to someone or just even being a part of a person’s life. Gilgamesh being the king of Uruk, where he was so arrogant and his behavior was uncontrollable, the people of Uruk started to complain to the Gods. Gilgamesh was lonely and wanted a friend or someone he could compete with. The Gods granted the people of Uruk commands and create Enkidu to confront Gilgamesh. The harlot (prostitute), guides him to the city of Uruk where Gilgamesh are and they quickly develop a bond of friendship. This happens after the two had an altercation with each other. For example, “Gilgamesh and Enkidu grappled each other, holding fast like wrestlers, they shattered the doorpost, the wall shook!”(Puncher 47). Gilgamesh is also known to be the strongest of men, a brave warrior, a fair judge, and ambitious builder. During this altercation Gilgamesh shows no signs of weakness but towards the end of the fight Enkidu does. His sadness weakens the strength within him.
