The poem talks about a boy who is confused with his gender but like the other’s story, his family will not able to accept his other self being a gay so early as now they do something to make him realized that he is boy and not a girl. In the beginning of the poem where the first line “It happened in a metal drum” shows that his family do something hilarious in the past that make a big change to his life. “Their hands, swollen and black with hair, bore me up in the air, and touched me. In this line “Father kept booming, Girl or Boy. I thought about it and squealed, Girl.” His father asking him if he is a boy or a girl but instead of saying he is a boy, he said that he is girl that made his father angrier and upset but in the end of that drama he gave up and says he is a boy even though his mind shouting the opposite. “In the end I had to say what they all wanted me to say, I had to bring this diversion to its happy end.” He chose a thing that made him incomplete because he’s not being true to his self, he gives up easily and he doesn’t fight for his life but instead he accepts what our God gave to him. He grew up being a man and not a woman, after how many years his father died and now he has a wife and children.
