Amphibian man and Dark city are very different films. Eastern authors and directors created amphibian Man whereas Dark City was developed here in the United States. These two films were also filmed in very different times. Amphibian Man was filmed in 1962 whereas Dark City was filmed in 1998. Despite these vast differences, these two films have a lot in common. By looking at common themes, examining the progress of society and the effects superhuman powers can have on society, we can understand just how much these two films actually have in common.

He is thought of as someone to attacks sailors and is a threat to small boats in the water. This is especially evident in the beginning of them film when all of the peal divers are afraid of him and think his appearance is to harm rather than to save Guttiere. Even after Don Pedro realized Ichthyander is relatively harmless, he seeks to use him as a profit-generating machine rather than seek opportunities for him to help those around him.
In Dark City, John Murdoch’s ability to tune is not even noticed by society, as they are not even aware that their world is being tuned. The strangers view Murdoch as the result of their evolution / experiences in their quest to understand humans. Rather than use Murdoch’s abilities to better understand humans and create a more pleasant environment for them, they try to implant their memories into Murdoch, which backfires on them. It seems to me that a species so interested in understanding humans would use whatever abilities they have to improve living conditions, not to make them
