Critical Reading Response Kindred 4. The way I see it, being complicit is the same as knowing about it and doing nothing to stop it. White women were just as involved as Black slaves that knew of the sexual exploitation, set aside the fact that they were slaves and could not do much in abolishing this issue but they were still complicit. I agree because Dana was discreet with helping Rufus get Alice so in the end she was involved. Since the beginning Dana knew of what Rufus has become with trying to rape Alice.…

The Real, the Bad, and the Ugly by Cassie Heidecker is an interesting example of analyzing the reality TV epidemic and in addition to the people that view it. The author starts out by listing things that go into a reality TV production and things that happen in real life in order to state that these are two different things despite the idea that reality TV is supposed to be “real”. The mundanity of real life is emphasised here vs. the idea that reality TV is scripted and has a lot of extra work put into it to make reality TV more appealing to a broader audience. The author goes on to say that real life is boring which I thought was funny and a little ironic considering that later the author mentions that she is somebody who sets aside time…

In the readings assigned for this week Megan J. Lee and Leign Moscowitz’s expose of the Real Housewives of New York City in The “Rich Bitch” really stood out to me. The reading stood out to me because of the many conflicting attitudes and situations presented in the article. I personally have never watched the Real Housewives because I didn’t feel the need to watch wealthy grown women make a big deal out of the littlest things. It always seemed excessive and ridiculous to have these types of shows that were made to glaringly show off the completely random women’s wealth. However, this article shows that there is so much more to the show.…
