Abstract Cancer is a malignant tumor that is triggered when cells increase nonstop destroying healthy tissue. The different strains of cancer are sarcomas, carcinomas, leukemia’s and lymphomas. Sarcoma is a malignant tumor that begins reproducing in the connective tissue such as cartilage, fat, muscle or bone. Carcinoma is a malignant tumor of the epithelial origin. Epithelium is a membranous cellular tissue that covers a free surface of lines, a tubes, or cavity of the animal body. It serves especially to enclose and protect the other parts of the body. Leukemia is an acute or chronic disease in humans and other warm-blooded animals characterized by an abnormal increase in the number of white blood cells in the tissues and often in the blood. Lymphoma is usually a malignant tumor of lymphoid tissue. There are three major mechanisms used to detect cancer. The first is a mammogram. A mammogram is a photograph of the breast made by X-rays to help detect cancer. The second mechanism to detect cancer is a colonoscopy. This is important in order to detect colon cancer. The third mechanism such as Pap smear. This is done to detect cervical cancer and should be done annually. There are other machines that help detect cancer, such as Computerized Axial Tomography scan (CATs) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging scan (MRIs). These machines should only be…
