Flannery O’Connor’s short story “A Good Man Is Hard to Find" and "The Cask of Amontillado" by Edgar Allan Poe introduce us two characters that are so trapped by their own overarching hypocrisy, that they are convinced only they are the best, highest class and most worthy people in the world, all of which invites rather grisly fates, which drag them too soon to the tomb at the hands of people offended by the stench of their superiority. In this case, Montresor and Misfit taking away somebody 's life from which appear to be good people could convince the reader 's mind that it is the right verdict these characters should die.
The story "A Good Man Is Hard to Find" and "The Cask of Amontillado have the two characters with overarching hypocrisy that leads to dead as punishment for their actions. Grandma in "A Good Man Is Hard to Find" is a woman that claims to have manners and knowledge of everything. Nonetheless, Grandma is the clear example how a hypocritical person would be; in order to save your own life. She is the reason and the person who exposes her entire family in danger. Unlike, she is literally the only person in the world that can be so nicely with a killer in order to save her life but leaving behind the people who opened the doors of their humble house. Nonetheless, Grandma ironically says to the Misfit "Why, you 're one of my babies. You 're one of my own babies!"(O 'Connor 50). She is so hypocrite to say that after she saw…
