To help accommodate the growing number of women leaving college, universities built married dorms, but it was still not enough. University official’s then came up with “ Ph.T (Putting Husband Through). ” Women’s role would be to support the husband while staying at home and maintain the house while also watching the children. The husband would be either in class or work, getting a degree to provide for the family. Instead of women having one or two kids, they were having four or five kids. Fewer and fewer women were working professional jobs such as nurses, social workers or teachers, which was causing problems back in the cities.
