It strongly conflicted what the typical American lifestyle had been. “The mother, whom God constituted the first teacher of every human being has been degraded by men from her high office” (Document C). Women taught the men and produce them so it is unjust that they do not have the same rights as them. Men held position in government for quite a long time and believed that women should most simply stay at home and be in the “cult of domesticity” which meant that they would control what happens there and not have any say in the outer realm of society. Godey spoke about the disrespect that the women faced and prompted that if she has a duty to take care of the children then she can be wise enough to know her own opinions about how to change the world. Females were only really there to help the opposite sex and produce children but mankind was ignorant of the females true capacity. They believed it was their turn to escape the continuous routine system of simply being there at home and Godey encouraged women to do
