Fraser Canyon Gold Rush
-first found in the Fraser River
-first gold rush was the reason of the Colony of BC
-mostly placer mining
-prospectors were mainly from the US
-more than doubled the white population in the area

-many were not successful
The Cariboo Road
-The Cariboo road was built by Douglas in order to ensure that gold would leave through the Fraser and be subject to taxation
-Caribou road was completed after the gold rush was coming to an end
