Suppresses central nervous system activity thereby inducing rapid unconsciousness in 1-2 minutes.

Dose dependent, but usually 3-5 mintutes.

Indications
Sedation to provide pharmacologically-assisted intubation.

Precautions
May cause myoclonic activity (e.g. caughing, hiccups).
May exacerbate focal seizure disorder.

Contraindications:
For EMS use, no contraindications.

Not recommended for Children under 10 y.o.

Use caution for pts with htx and severe asthma.

Known adrenal insufficiency (known to suppress cortisol production)
Known hx of focal seizure disorder (may exacerbate condition)
