Prenatal Development and Birth
• Once every 28 days in the middle of the menstrual cycle an unfertilized egg will move from your ovary through the fallopian tube and into the uterus.
• When fertilization occurs, it will be about 10-14 days before it implants in your uterine wall
Sperm
• Males produce about 300 million sperm a day
• Sperm can live up 6 days in a females body
• The time you’re most likely to get pregnant is the day of ovulation (the day when the unfertilized egg breaks free of the ovary and travels to the uterus) or the two days before

• Disk shaped group of tissues where small blood vessels from mom and baby intertwine
• Oxygen, food to baby, waste away from baby
Fetal Period

o Rapid cell growth; growth in size and weight (and will continue to grow quickly until the age of 2)
