Describe and discuss the hierarchy of needs, from the spimple to the complex, as developed by Maslow
Physiologic is the first level and is the survival or primary needs. Examples: oxygen, food, water, sleep and elimination
Security and Safety is the second level with both physical and psychological needs. Examples are shelter and freedom from harm.
Love Affection and Belonging are the third level and considered social needs.
Self-esteem is the fourth level is relates to one's perception of themself; appreciating one's own self-worth.
The final phase is self-actualization; when one has met his or her full potential.
Define the term regression and explain at least two examples of regression
Regression is when a person falling backward or retreating to a previous behavior or concern. Example: a person who has surgery will regress to focusing on his health and feeling good before focusing on returning to work or his job (2) A person who is starving will not be concerned with how fast they eat their food and their appearance until they are no longer hungry

Basic need for homeless or unemployed are the need for food and shelter. Homeless are at risk from danger from strangers and fatigue from walking long distances to get food. These needs must be met before they can think about aesthetic needs (needs to enchance quality of life) such as having cable television or possible immunization for their children; for terminal patients basic needs such as rest needs to be met for them to desire or achieve aesthetic needs such as enjoying their family (3rd level need; love, affection and belonging)
