Our communication and responses to messages are influenced by our sets of needs. Maslow is a well-known psychologist who came up with the hierarchy of five basic levels of needs in 1954, so these needs range in a certain order, from the most essential for Self-Actualization to the least necessary. The highest level of needs satisfaction can only be reached if the lower-level needs already have been satisfied in a regular way and there are explained as variable and unlimited human needs. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs consists of the following basic levels of needs: SURVIVAL, SAFETY, SOCIAL, ESTEEM and SELF-ACTUALISATION.

1) The physiological needs/ …show more content…
We have to be protected from wars and crimes and have the sense to live fairly and free and also have the ability to maintain varying levels of privacy.
3) Social
a) Once the survival and safety needs have been satisfied an individual realizes his/her own need to belong somewhere. This is the level where one need to develop meaningful relationships with others so basically this type of need is related to the need to be accepted by others, to have friends, to belong to a group and to be appreciated and loved by others. Social needs usually remain dominant until they have been satisfied.
4) Esteem
a) Maslow believes that this level refers to people’s need to weigh themselves positively. In other words, it is the need not only to feel successful in what you do, but to receive public recognition for your efforts. When the need for love and relationship has been satisfied, the need for self-esteem arises. According to Maslow (1970), the need for self -esteem consists of two …show more content…
Expressing your creativity (art or dancing), and mostly feeling that you’re growing as an individual.
3. OWN EXPERIENCE OF HOW MY COMMUNICATION WAS INFLUENCED BY EACH LEVEL OF MASLOW’S HIERARCHY OF NEEDS.
1) PHYSIOLOGICAL/SURVIVAL NEEDS
a) We need proper food for instance breakfast so that we can have energy to make it easier for you to communicate with people. So you need your daily essentials to survive to talk to people and in order to communicate effectively with people you need the energy.
2) SAFETY
a) In order to survive you need to be protected. When one secures a job makes it easier for that person to be able to buy their essentials.
3) SOCIAL
a) This is based on how the environment holds us. Here we’re talking about how the social media affects us so people need to be a little bit nicer when we talk about social media because if we’re being attacked on social media it inhibits communication. So as an individual you won’t want to communicate if you’re not comfortable in the environment .So we need to belong to a group and as an individual I won’t be able to communicate if there’s no comfort ability and acceptance so if we’re constantly attacked wee lack the motivation to communicate which leads to low
