If a UMOS is served with an OOP that only keeps them from carrying off-duty, they may continue on full duty status if this

If there is no basis for placing the member on modified assignment

The DO/Supervisor of UMOS's command will do this if UMOS is hit with an OOP that keeps them from carrying while off-duty

Assist the CO/DC in determining if all firearms owned or possessed by member have been surrendered by checking 10 card, notifying PA, FTS and requesting a check of records maintained regarding UMOS's firearms ownership and arrange to pick up additional guns as necessary.

Have firearms other than the service and authorized off-duty vouchered for safekeeping - ensure PCI has "Property of a uniformed member of the service - not to be returned without written authorization of CO, PAS" & give copy of PCI to UMOS.

Direct UMOS to report to PAS

When directed to report to PAS, the UMOS will do this

Go there with:

Full duty ID card

Original copy of Acknowledgement of Responsibilities Concerning Court Order Limiting Firearms Possession

Copy of report prepared by CO/DC

Copy of PCI for vouchered guns, if applicable

When directed to report to Shield Unit & ID card Unit, the UMOS will get this from them

A "NO FIREARMS" ID card

When a UMOS is hit with an OOP that keeps them from carrying while off-duty, they will take these steps prior to signing out at EOT

Hand in service weapon, authorized off duty if they have one, shield and full duty ID card to DO/supervisor and get "NO FIREARMS" ID card prior to signing out EOT

When a UMOS is hit with an OOP that keeps them from carrying while off-duty, they will take these steps when reporting for duty

Hand in "NO FIREARMS" ID card and get FULL DUTY ID card, shield, service weapon and authorized off duty, if applicable from DO/Supervisor

When OOP is expired or vacated, the UMOS will do this

Notify CO and when they direct it, go to PAS with:

"NO FIREARMS" and "FULL DUTY" ID cards

Copy of expired or vacated OOP

Copy of report prepared by CO/DC - can't carry any guns off-duty until CO gets authorization from CO, PAS

Report, when directed, to Property Clerk Office with:

"FULL DUTY" ID card

Copy of PCI

Original report from CO, PAS authorizing return of all firearms

Whenever the DO/Supervisor makes the exchange with the UMOS for guns, shield and ID (providing it for work/safeguarding it in designated location at EOT) they will record it here

Command Log

What does the "Acknowledgement of Responsibilities Concerning Court Order Limiting Firearms Possession" form include and how does the UMOS get it?

The UMOS gets this form from the CO when they direct them to prepare it and it includes the member's obligation to safeguard all firearms with the Dept at all times while off-duty and advises member that no new firearms may be bought. Failure to comply may result in criminal charges and court sanctions as well as Dept charges, which can lead to termination. Failure or refusal to complete the form will result in the UMOS being modified and subject them to disciplinary action.
