General Eq for calculating Enthalpy change from bond enthalpies
Delta H of reactants - Delta H of Products
Two main rules on how you form a rate equation from mechanisms of a reaction?
1.) Only species in the rate determining step are included in the rate equation
2.) Orders of reaction for each species indicate their molar ratios in the rate determining step
What is enthalpy change of atomisation?
Atomisation of Iodine?
The energy taken in (ALWAYS POSITIVE) by a species to form one mole of gaseous atoms from an element in its STANDARD STATE.
1/2 I (s) -> 2 I (g)
Here, Iodine's standard state is a solid, and a single atom is used to represent the giant molecular covalent structure (I2 would be a gas as it's diatomic)
What state change is involved?
