Pakistani fans take it to the next level and go beyond cricket as a game. For them, cricket is war. It is astonishing how a world cup game between India and Pakistan can bring forth thousands of supporters at every major cricket venue anywhere in the world. At the 2015 cricket world cup some Baluch fans cheered for India while Kashmiris cheered for Pakistan. The tension for Pakistani players was excessively high, as by defeating their neighboring country they can leave with respect and a mark that takes far longer to erase then when they win to south Africa or Australia. By beating the old enemy Pakistan can get back at India for all the malicious hatred held in their hearts. If Pakistan comes home from an India - Pakistan match and has lost much like in the past, the players are treated to assaulting fans, profuse threatening and harassing. However, if they somehow manage to win a game between India and Pakistan much like they did back in 1986, they can spend the next year in peace and celebration to winning the game against India. But, it is not only the player that are affected by the match, it is also the fans who are affected by the India - Pakistan match regardless of age or class. The issue of Kashmir has always caused a major disagreement between the two countries ever since their independence in 1947. Pakistan and India have fought over three wars with each other in a struggle to gain Kashmir. Tension between the two countries is unlikely to disappear until a resolution to this problem has sprung. India is refusing to obey the United Nations who believes that holding a plebiscite under United Nations authority to determine "the final disposition of the state of Jammu and Kashmir" (Basu, 2010). In 1947, when Pakistani leaders demanded division of Kashmir India claimed Kashmir arguing that because they believe in secularism, Kashmir should be theirs. Pakistan views India 's occupation of Kashmir as a threat to its security, as the railroads that link Lahore-Islamabad-Peshawar, would be under constant threat if India held Kashmir. In addition, most if not all of the rivers that flow into Pakistan originate in Kashmir. In 1948 India shut off water supplies to the canals leading to Pakistan, indicating the damage that India could do to Pakistan if they pleased (Basu, 2010).
