When Thoreau lived in the woods he had better outlook on nature, he discovered that people had four necessity in life which are food and, shelter, fuel, and clothing. By having these four necessities in life a person can conserve their energy. Thoreau wants everybody to slow down and reconnect with real time which is nature 's time. By slowing down, people have the time to reevaluate on some things that going on in their life. Also, Thoreau stated in his story that “The laboring man has not leisure for a true integrity day by day; he cannot afford to sustain the manliest relations to men; his labor would be depreciated in the market. He has no time to be anything but a machine.” This quote by Thoreau is so true because most jobs today don’t value their employees on personal levels of who they are as a person, but only on the business level where the employee can make the business being more successful by bringing in more income to the company. While a person who is working day in and day out will eventually lose their true self and get blinded by having wealth and materialistic things. After the person is blinded by materialism he or she will have trouble to distinguish between what is a luxury in life and what is a necessity in life. Being an individual is to be unique and being their own self. Everybody in this world has different destiny in life and their own struggles, so why be a copy of somebody else. On the hand, it is great to be inspire by a person and use it to push forward in life but not be a copy to the admiral person. Thoreau stated in his story, “To know what we know what we know, and that we don’t know what we know that is true knowledge.” Everyone in this world can be admired person by having knowledge on something, in which it can turn into wisdom.
