In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the timeline of events is cohesive with the plot which in turn allows for the audience to easily comprehend the theme of Macbeth: power is corruptive. Macbeth is a tragedy written by Shakespeare. In the beginning on Macbeth’s way home from a victory he and Banquo run into three witches that tell him he will be named Thane of Cawdor and King and that Banquo will be father t a long line of kings. Then a messenger of King Duncan of Scotland, Ross, pops up and tells Macbeth that he has been named Thane of Cawdor. After Macbeth tells Lady Macbeth about the prophecies, Lady Macbeth’s ambition drives her to urge Macbeth to murder King Duncan when he visits. Macbeth chooses to murder the King and Queen. The next day, Thane of Fife, Macduff shows up to Macbeth’s place and finds the King and Queen murdered. Their two sons leave so they will not be murdered as well. Macbeth is then crowned King of Scotland. Macbeth becomes frightful that one of Banquo’s sons will take his throne, so he hires murderers to kill them. Banquo’s son Fleance escapes the murder attempt. Macbeth revisits the witches to find out his destiny and they tell him beware Macduff, no man born of woman will hurt him, worry when Birnam wood moves to Dusinane. Macbeth believes that two- thirds of the prophecy are impossible so he does not worry and he kills off Macduff’s family. Macduff and Malcolm- King Duncan’s son- become suspicious of Macbeth and believe that he is behind the madness so…
