The respective theories of Darwinism and creationism are two differing ideas on how life began on earth. Creationism is a religious premise, described in the Bible, that God created all matter out of nothing; conversely Darwinism is the scientific concept of biological evolution stating that all species of organisms arise and develop through natural selection. Darwinism and creationism have major impacts on civilization often creating rifts in sects of society, according to brynmawr.edu: “It has been said that no book other than the Bible has had a greater effect on Western society than Charles Darwin 's Origin of Species.” Up until the mid-19th century creationism was the widely believed idea, but since then Darwinism has been established as scientific fact. Therefore Darwinism should be what we teach in school and use in everyday life as it is a more accurate and factual representation of the world.
In the United States of America it is said there should be a separation of church and state; As such there is a perpetual power struggle between the 2 leading ways of thought, Darwinism and Creationism. In the public education realm many states find creative and deceiving ways to undermine the system to push their own beliefs upon the student population. In 2008 the Louisiana state legislature passed an unconstitutional act, the act allows public school teachers to use supplemental materials in the science classroom which are critical of theories such as the theory of evolution…
