Known as McCarthyism it was named after Senator Joseph. The word Scare referred to the fear of communism within the United States. The communists was categorized as the "Reds" due to the Soviet Flag. The second Red Scare started in 1947, during the Cold War and after WorlD War 2. Red Scare affected Americans because many werre worried the communists were testing nuclear bombs, in preparation to a potential nuclear war. Not only that, this upsetted many innocent people, either they were deported or arrested. Many individuals lost their jobs due to assumption. In other words, people were left unemployed due to being wrongfully accused as a Communist or friends with them.
On the other hand, the Red Scare conflicted with Americans pschologically due to fear. As an example, suppose someone was walking and another individual rides beside being friendly asking if a ride was needed. Although, the one walking needed a ride but the feeling of confusion appeared so, the ride was declined. In a way, I speculate the Red Scare had individuals so paranoid and brainwashed to not give anyone any odd impression. They didn't trust anyone, so self-keep was their best
