In 1954 they attempted to pass the Communist Control Act to help abolish Communism. It is said that the ploy of the Communist Party is to overthrow our government. In 1954 they also passed the bill that legally put the phrase, "Under God," into the Pledge of Allegiance. In 1892 the original Pledge of Allegiance was written by the Baptist minister Francis Bellamy. " I pledge allegiance to my flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all, (Bellamy, August 1892). After the first release of the Pledge of Allegiance they started to add other words as time went on. In October 1892 about two months after the original Pledge of Allegiance was released they decided to add the word "to" at the beginning of "the Republic". 32 years (1924) it was decided by the national flood Commerce to change the phrase "my flag" to "the flag of the United States of America" (1924, National Flag Commerce). As an American that is not of Catholic faith the phrase "Under God," may not mean much to them.
