Walt Disney created a film related to the myth of Hercules, but there are many parts from the myth that weren’t included in the film. The reason why is to keep the film family-friendly for kids to enjoy without seeing all the gruesome parts from the actual myth. By making the film a musical comedy, Disney kept it PG-13; successfully making the once morbid myth of Hercules upbeat. To start off; in the myth, Hercules were born to Zeus and a mortal woman name Alcmene, with parents being an immortal and mortal, that make Hercules a demigod. Because of this affair, Hera who is Zeus’ wife sought to destroy him knowing that Hercules is Zeus’ illegitimate son. There are many alterations that were made in the film that are different from the myth and the reason why screenwriters did this is to add a little more jovial and hysteric to the film to lighten the mood and to maintain the children's attention. Unlike the myth, the villain in the film is not Hera but it is actually the god of the underworld Hades. Hades want to overthrow Zeus and take over the kingdom but first he need to get Hercules out of his way so he send his minions to kidnap Hercules, turn him into a mortal and kill him but his plan to kill Hercules failed. Hercules was stuck on earth, he was then raise by a mortal couple. He grow up to be an awkward, shy teenager who is very clumsy and with that strength that he couldn't fully control, he often destroy whatever he touches without meaning to. He didn’t feel like he belong so he set out a journey to find his destiny, Hercules then discover where he came from and was told by Zeus that if he proves himself to be a true hero, he can become a god again and return to Mount Olympus to be reunited with his parents. So then he agree to hero training and soon later he had overcome many obstacles that Hades had throw at
