Introduction This research paper will discern this authors analysis concerning the role of the Holy Spirit in the Gospel of John. A review of the “disciple whom Jesus loved” (John 13:23) notable beliefs concerning the Holy Spirit will be examined and reviewed in accordance with the literary and cultural context of the Gospel. In addition, the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament, a more extensive review of the Gospel will be investigated as well as an assortment of Bible commentaries, theology and various doctrinal teachings to discover John’s purpose. All sources will be cited and will be used to expound on and explain John’s point of view. An assessment of the main perspectives and a conclusion of the topics will close out this research paper. Subjects to be investigated consist of: The Works of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirits Role in the Old Testament and its use in the Gospel of John, the Titles of the Holy Spirit and their importance, and the Purpose of the Holy Spirit, the Glory of Christ through the Holy Spirit, John’s compelling insight on the Person and Deity of the Holy Spirit and the Importance of the Holy Spirit as displayed in the Gospel of John. In the Gospel of John the Holy Spirit is presented as the third Person of the Trinity as co-equal, co-eternal (John 3:5-6), and unified in the ministry with God the Father and Son (John 3:34; 14:16), increasingly glorifying Jesus as Lord and Savior (John 16:14), sent by the Father and Son to assist the disciples…
