Depression is “A mood disorder causing a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest.” (Mayo Clinic) Both Gatsby and Holden experience this throughout the novel because of the actions done through the novel this results in negative feelings. In the novel The Great Gatsby is set around the roaring twenties. Nick moves to West Egg where he has a strange neighbor which later becomes his friend. Nick has a cousin that live in East Egg is where people have money that’s been inherit. He meets his cousin Daisy and her Husband Tom they have dinner and talk. Tom and Nick go and meet women at an apartment downtown NYC we find out that Tom has a mistress her name is Myrtle Wilson. Nick was personally invited by his neighbor to come to one of his lavish parties, he meets the host his name is Gatsby. They hang out and he asks Nick if he can have Daisy over for lunch and tea. Daisy knew Gatsby because they were past lovers he left for the war and was forced into marrying Tom. After having a meeting with Tom and Nick, Gatsby and Daisy leave and she wants to drive but she really can’t so Myrtle goes outside thinking it was Tom so she runs into the car. They flee the scene and then Tom stops by the crime scene and find out that she is dead. Tom tells Mr. Wilson that Gatsby was having an affair with Myrtle and he killed her. Mr. Wilson goes to Gatsby 's house and kills him and takes his own life. No one comes to Gatsby 's funeral except Nick and his father and Nick. In the novel The…
