According to the article “Which is More Effective Violent or Nonviolent Resistance” it states that, “..30 percent of nonviolent regime change campaigns have succeeded, along with 12 percent of violent campaigns.” This not only shows that nonviolent has more chance of succeeding but, also shows that people will listen more when not showing violence. You do get attention from violence, but it is more of a negative, fearful and people will be less going for what you want because they are not doing it to their own will. The Article, “Who is Rosa Parks? The Year is 1955,” says that, “When Martin Luther King, Jr. heard that Mrs. Parks had been arrested, he called a meeting at his church. A huge crowd gathered to hear what he had to say.” Both of these people have made a huge impact on civil rights. Rosa parks denied to give up her seat for a white person, showing that she can make her own choices, and Martin Luther King made the “I have a Dream” speech to persuade people that all men are created equal not matter their color of skin. They show that yes, achieving goals with nonviolence may be difficult, but they never gave up and stayed true to their beliefs not matter the cost. During that time and now we have many challenges to
