Humans of Wrath The novel The Grapes of Wrath by famous writer John Steinbeck clearly paints a picture of the brutality of the Dust Bowl and the effects it had on families all over the the Mid Western United States. Many of these families had no choice but to migrate to the west into California to possibly find work, since they had no other way of surviving out in the barren wasteland that was the Mid West. With all these people coming into their land, many Californians saw cheap labor workers, and others viewed them as a nuisance.
