Project Risk Management Simply Serendipity Inc. is looking at implementing a new information technology system that would allow its employees to access and maintain some of their own human resource information. The information that they would be able to accessed and changed would include their home address, telephone number, and email address. All employees would also be able to access and change their tax withholding and pension plan contributions. The implementation of this plan would reduce the workload on the human resource department by placing this responsibility on the employee.

If the contact information that employees are entering into the system is not correct this can cause an issue when attempting to contact an employee in an emergency situation. There are two things that can be done to reduce this risk. The first one would be to have a confirmation screen showing the information that the employee has entered that has to be acknowledge before the information is changed. The second would be for there to be either and annual or semi-annual requirement for all employees to verify that they information is still accurate and …show more content…
Some members of the HR department may fear for their job since part of their job is being replaced by a self-service system. This can be alleviated if the resistance is managed. Prosci (2014) states “Much of the resistance faced by projects can be avoided if effective change management is applied on the project from the very beginning” (para. 5).
