Then in the song it says “ still marchen” over and over. This is because it seems like the war was never working so the handsome American boys keep “marchen and marchen”. It talks about how “it's a long hard road” and it was killing people and for as long as they fought it had to have been traumatizing. The men in the war had gone through so much that it was a long hard “road”.
Everything these young american boys did was to get our freedom. Thousands of men never came back fighting for our freedom. Many of the men were so brave for fighting in the long hard war. To many people it was an honor to be able to fight for your country. Many men wanted to join the war so bad that they would lie about age and say they were 18, the song speaks of things like this.
