Overambitious Is the Key to Failure Ambitious is the act of achieving our goals in life despite the struggles we have to face. But sometimes we don’t realize that we’re being overambitious until things go out of control and everything starts to fall apart. Ambition has two parts; a path to success and a path to misfortune. We like the feeling of success, but we have to put in mind that in order for this to happen, we have to watch our actions and take risks. However, to pursue our dreams, we have to learn how to balance things since life and responsibilities don’t go away. This can lead us to go on the wrong path. He is willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants. One of the three prophecies that the witches gave him made him blind out and forget about the consequences that can happen. But because he is motivated and determined on becoming the King of Scotland, he made awful decisions that led him to the path of misfortune. Moreover, a quote from the play Macbeth that describes his evilness is, “The prince of Cumberland! That is a step on which I must fall down, or else o’erleap, for in my way it lies. Stars, hide your fires; Let not light see my black and deep desires. The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be which the eye fears, when it is done, to see.” (1.4.55-60). This quote shows how evil Macbeth became because of wanting to replace the king; he is saying that to become the king, he needs to kill Malcolm or just give up. This way he wouldn’t have any issues on becoming the King of Scotland. As a result, he chooses to do the wrong and continues with his plan because of his ambition. He is influenced by his wife, Lady Macbeth because she is willing to give up anything for her husband on becoming the king. This then caused him the worst result ever which is death. Ambition has a big role in our life and without it, we are nothing. Where ambition goes wrong is when we rush things and do harm to others to prove to ourselves that we’re capable of achieving our goals. We can’t just keep striving for goals we don’t even need, but we do it anyways because it makes us feel good and it boost up our self-esteem. As Mark Twain said, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why”. In order to go on the path of good ambition, we need self-controlled and we have to find out what our purpose is in this world. If we don’t know our purpose yet, then, this is when we take our time and wait patiently because it will eventually come to us. Every one of us has a purpose in this world, some of us just haven’t found it yet. When we do find our purpose, we have to think twice about our actions and think how overambitious can lead us to a downfall. I believe that when achieving our goals, failure is our best friend because if we’re afraid of failure, all our hard work and effort will go to nothing. But failure is not a choice for people who are too ambitious because they’re the ones who lead themselves to the wrong path.
