Although everyone look down upon Hester, she still took care of the sick, gave food to the poor, and made beautiful clothing for the society with honor. Hester sold the clothes, that were not for Pearl, and gave the profit back to the people of Salem. This shows generosity within Hester. She did not have to give back to the community because of the way they treated her, but she was good-hearted woman. As time goes on, Dimmesdale’s guilt leads him to stand in front of the town and confess that he was Hester’s significant other. She forgives him for not standing up for her and Pearl.
