Although this is not wrong the whole reason why Mark Twain made the book is to show the life of a slave back in the 1830s or 40s before the civil war, if Twain made Jim a racist character he could 've made Jim a complete imbecile that follows and never questions Huck which is clearly shown when they were conversing about the kings that this is not the case, “Dat’s de way of Sollermun was gwyne to do wid de chile. Now I want to ast you: what’s de use er dat half a bill?-can’t buy noth’n wid it. En what use is a half a chile? I would’nt give a dern for a million un um… I reck’n I knows sense when I see it; en dey ain’ no sense in sich doin’s as dat. Albeit that Jim is ignorant of the whole point of the conversation he still tries to be the better man than Huck even though he is white Jim doesn 't want to admit that he is more uneducated than a child, which every adult doesn 't want to admit.
