There is no question that historically, such claims were accurate. It was a disgusting period in our nation’s history, one where we hopefully learned a permanent lesson. People are people. Forget the color, forget the gender, value the person. This is 2016. The struggle for equal rights should not be able to have any traction. People choosing not to seek education or try to land a job have nobody but themselves to blame. There is no justification to sit and demand unequal attention. Such a demand is in fact perpetuating the very inequality our nation finally overcame. Nor is this a racial problem. Regardless of skin color or historical origin, Americans should be treated as Americans, each considered in the same light as a neighbor. And when things don’t work out, the job isn’t landed, the application is not accepted, the school rejects the applicant, these are the times that call for the test of reason and common sense. If there is proof such decisions are being racially made, then all races must band together and fight once again for equality. If there is no such proof, then people need to understand that not everything goes their way in life, and we all suffer disappointment at one time or another. It is not fair to blame another group for your own
