Alcohol plays a big part in prescription drugs because the person who is taking them may not get the "high" they want to achieve a better high then the last time. Some may decide to add alcohol in the mix. Alcohol is a legal drug within its self because the more the consumer drinks, their driving ability is impaired, it is hard to walk/talk, it can make the person sad or angry. The relationship between prescription painkillers and alcohol goes hand and hand because they both give you the same effect and can even lead to death. So where do abusers obtain prescription painkiller drugs? Most abusers of prescription painkillers drugs obtain them from the prescription originally. For example, the doctor gives the patient a prescription for Oxycodone. The patient gets use to the prescription taking the pain away and making them feeling better. These people will go to different doctors and complain that something is bothering them and the doctor gives them a prescription. The abuser will continue this cycle until they get all the painkillers they need. They could sell these painkillers to people around them who are abusers of prescription painkillers if they choose to. Low income people are at risk because they are targets for drugs dealers. Low income people who are abusers know it's easy to get the painkillers and will do anything to get the them. I personal think mental illness patients are at a all time high because if they have a history of drug abuse, the medicine they take each and everyday can trigger something in them to get addicted to the new medicine they take.
