* Evaluate Bob’s process for establishing the NSS advisory board. What could be improved? Basically, Bob did well in establishing advisory board, including CEO, COO, and financial expertise and Marketing expertise, who have the family-owned background or service industry background. Also, there was one female member who would be able to help the company better understand the female customers or help the female family member to involve in the family business. With the development of company, Bob added new members to the board according to the business needs. This is another good point. But it seems not a systematized situation. Mike and Grant faced four main challenges after Keith resign: * Their abilities has been questioned * The relation with some managers who were very loyalty to the previous president was poor. They lost trust to these two brother * Some managers worried about job stability. * Managers relied too much on the previous president. Perhaps several measures could help to minimize effects caused by managerial transition * During this period when mike and Grant were vice presidents, they both should build good relationship with other managers to win their trust. They should seize opportunities to improve and show their ability and win the reputation. One detail in case “neither of them had previously developed an overall NSS budget” shows that as vice presidents and they know they would take over the company; the two didn’t acquire some important experiences during the period when they were vice president. * During Keith tenure as president or before that, a good system should be established to prevent centralism. No matter president or other managers, they should understand their own responsibilities and make their own decision within responsibility. Keith had a strong control of company and it seem managers can’t make decision without Keith.As vice presidents, Mike and Grant should realize it and take action in advance to prevent too much centralism. *
