Nimble And Healthsouth's Ethical Corporate Culture

The similarities amongst all three companies mainly include unethical leadership and unethical corporate culture. This is most likely the case due to ethics intertwining nature with culture and norms in society. Society directs culture, which can then be a framework for ethics. Tyco and HealthSouth similarly committed accounting fraud through both inflating earning and misleading investors. Nimble and Tyco can be seen as very similar with both having a common theme of exploiting loans, Tyco, through exploiting the lender and Nimble through exploiting the borrower. Similarities between Nimble and HealthSouth contain both companies exhibiting disregard for corporate governance.
Under utilitarianism all three companies do not maximise society’s welfare and damaged rather then strengthen society. Tyco’s executives acted in self-interest and only sought to maximise their own benefits, which does not provide the most amount of benefit to the most

Tyco executives took monetary rights away from shareholders, which is considered illegal and unethical. HealthSouth can be seen as unethical under the Rights theory as they failed to provide investors with their right to access materially accurate information. Under Rights theory Nimble’s customers should have had the right to take out loans with the proper guidance of professional judgement and advice, which was not provided to them. The scandals have occurred from unethical culture in all three companies and a key lesson to be learned is that businesses need to implement the right tone at the top and can ensure this with ethics training and programs.
The three companies, Tyco, HealthSouth and Nimble, all demonstrated a high level of unethical behaviour, which led to scandal and chaos. Unethical behaviour is not only detrimental to the company itself but also to society as discussed above in the
