MOTIVATING EMPLOYEES IN DIFFICULT ECONOMIC TIMES
In hard economic times, many companies perceive it too difficult to motivate employees with little or no monetary incentives. After weeks of exhaustive research, Union University Consultants will answer the three of the most important questions about motivating employees. How does one motivate employees? What are other companies doing to motivate employees? And, is it possible to motivate employees without direct monetary incentives? The answer to these questions could play a key part in the success of The Magnolia Software Company.
DISCUSSION OF FINDINGS
Some of the best small business owners say the reason they started their business was so that they could change the world; however, most people believe that money is the primary motivator (Zwilling, 2012). According to Zwilling (2012), there are eight main principles to motivate employees; energize your team; there’s more to life than work; put your people first; act with integrity; be a great communicator; be a great listener; be a great problem solver; and lead through experience and competence, not through title or position. During good times or bad times, the fundamentals of leadership do not change.

They come to work early and have a good attitude. Attitudes are infectious whether they are good or bad. An outstanding example of motivated employees is the US Marines. Their unfettered commitment to do a good job is legendary. One key indicator to a motivated team is their commitment to a cause. Many team members work longer and harder hours.
