When he came into power as the Prime Minister of Egypt in 1953 he broke up all political groups including the Muslim Brotherhood, which in 2013 is named a terrorist group. In 1956 he create a constitution which ended imperialism, feudalism, monopoly, and capitalistic influence. The people were given basic human rights, but Nasser and three other government officials were the only ones allowed to nominate people for the Egyptian National Assembly. Beginning in 1952 to 1969 Nasser created a reform which took away the land from the rich landlords and redistributed it among the lower classes. The most land a landowner was allowed to have by 1969 was 50 acres of land. This mainly affected the two thousand rich landowners, in which these reformed destroyed their way of living. In June of 1967 the Six-Day War took place and Egypt, Jordan and Syria fought against Israel and Arab. Egypt, Jordan and Syria lost to Israel and Arab. Ashamed that he lost Nasser resigned on public radio, but the resignation was only temporary. Egypt then fought in another war named, the War of Attrition from 1967 to 1970. Nasser died on September 28, 1970 due to a heart attack. When he died he left Egypt with bad financials for the Arab-Israeli Wars cost Egypt a substantial amount of money. Right before he died, he named Anwar al-Sadat his Vice President and after his death he became the next president of Egypt.
