Finally, LeBron James is an NBA player who has made a large impact on the basketball world because of his successful career in the NBA. The Cleveland Cavaliers would pick Lebron as the first pick in the 2003 NBA Draft (Wells 42). Lebron made his NBA debut against the Sacramento Kings only six months after graduating high school (Wells 43, 44). Although many people had doubted him because of his youth, he still shocked critics and thrilled fans, scoring nine points in the first ten minutes, and ending the night with twenty-five points (Wells 43, 44, 45). Despite his efforts, the Cavaliers lost the game, and Lebron was sad, feeling like he could have done more (Wells 45). It was a big task for an eighteen year old, but the team greatly improved once he took the role, even going on a 7 game winning streak, which was fantastic for a team who had only won seventeen games the year prior (Wells 47). Lebron set many records along the way, proving he was one of a kind (Wells 48). He was Rookie of the Month in his division each month as well as Rookie of the Year (Wells 49). Lebron averaged 21 points per game his rookie year and the Cavaliers finished the season 35-47, which was a large improvement from the previous season (Wells 48, 49). In his second season, Lebron began to step up and become a leader on the team with a goal of winning more games than he did his rookie season (Wells 50). He averaged 27 points while also collecting a lot of rebounds and assists (Wells 51). In the 2004-2005 season, Lebron became the youngest player ever to get a triple double (James 42). Against the Raptors, he became the youngest player to ever score 56 points. These stats would earn him the opportunity to play in the NBA All-Star game where he scored 13 points, collected 8 rebounds, and dished out six assists (Wells 52) (James
