Due to this, some laws are made and if broken characterized as crimes rather than others. However, when they say that laws are made by the public interest; which public interest is that? Is the interest that they talk about the one of the general public for the working class and regular people, or that of the upper middle class, high class, or the top one percent? Moreover, do these law makers, including congress, make laws that are in their interest, the interest of some interest group, or the interest of some form of political party, or the best interest of the people? I feel that not only the criminal justice system, but also the government and its law makers are corrupt entities that only do certain things for their own wellbeing. Today, almost everything in the world is controlled by money. I think that the people and interest groups with money are the ones that make the world spin and for that reason I believe that laws aren’t made for the public’s interest. I believe that regular people, not interest groups or people who hold a role in the government, should be able to determine which laws should be enacted for the public interest of everyone and not just the rich. Many sociologists came up with different theories about criminal law in the society and how it relates to public interest. However, I don’t think that these sociologists took into consideration how corrupt a society can become, when only controlled by the rich, and how the people who control the laws aren’t regular everyday working people. This is a problem that has been going on for quite some time and there is not stop to it any time soon. If regular people were to be able to control the making of laws for the public interest of the people, then society as we know it won’t be corrupt and complex like It is
