Barricading herself in the room, where she starts to stare out the window to stomach the unexpected sense of exhilaration for a new found life which will release her of all the unhappiness she endured while married. Chopin used repetition throughout this short story, such as word and or phrases to highlight some key points. She also uses different symbolism, imagery and ironic aspects to help introduce her story. For example, when Kate Chopin says “She could see in the open square before her house the tops of trees that were all aquiver with the new spring life. The delicious breath of rain was in the air” I anticipate this event occurred around spring time. Millard life has been devoid of emotions due to having a suppressive husband. The duration of her marriage isn’t given nor any details about their relationship. Knowing that Mr. Mallard was a working man, we can suggest that he was gone often. Seeing her grieve when hearing the news tells us that she cared a great deal about him. Yet, how quickly her sadness was replaced with the feelings of freedom suggest that she wasn’t completely happy and satisfied with her marriage. This story also suggest that during their marriage Louise never experienced self-identity or the joys of being married which is why she reacted so bluntly. Knowing more about their marriage would shine light on why she was feeling the way that she was feeling. In conclusion, death is forestalls in a way that the meaning is contradictory of what is known today. Although, Mrs. Mallard grieved by the death of her husband the fact of being free overwhelmed her realizing the dreams and vision she imagined had come to a halt and died, after the shock of seeing her husband
