All the characters changed at some point because of events that have taken place in the book or because the character is getting older and seeing things more clearly or a change in perspective has happened. Overall the character that has shown the most change throughout the entire book had to be Jem. Therefore the character Jem has evolved the most throughout the entire book. Jem starts to want to discipline Scout. For example, Atticus told him “Go home, Jem,” he said “take Scout and Dill home.” … but from the way he stood Jem was not thinking of budging. “Go home, I said.”Jem shook his head”... “I ain’t going,” was his steady answer to Atticus … “(203)Jem knows that he has to stick up for his father when his father tells him to go home most kids would have listened to their parent and would have gone home but since Jem is maturing he knows that he has to stick around for his father in this situation so he shakes his head denying Atticus's request. in conclusion Jem has definitely evolved more than Scout has.
Scout is a character who has changed in numerous ways as well. "One time Atticus said you never really knew a man until you stood in his shoes and walked around in them" (374).Scout realizes this when she walks Boo Radley to his house without actually walking in his shoes she saw things from his point of view by standing on his front porch.Although Scout has changed in many ways Jem has shown more growth by knowing from right or wrong ,when he has to step up and recognizing who people truly are in his town
