Specific Purpose: To inform the audience how to enhance credibility when making conversation at work-related social events.
Central Idea: To inform my classmates how to enhance credibility when making conversation at work-related social event by engaging in a conversation, being honesty, and keep confidences.
Introduction:
I. Today I would like to inform you on how to enhance your credibility when making conversation at work-related social events. When you make a mistake own up to it immediately and do the right thing to correct it. Developing integrity will gain the trust of your colleagues. You will also most likely be considered for a promotion at your job. Also, being honest is admitting what you don’t know. It is okay to be unclear on something, as long as you are open about it. In addition to being honest, keeping confidences is also essential to enhance your credibility. III. Keeping confidences is being able to keep things to ourselves, it will help your build trust and relationship. Many times our boss or colleagues tell us information that is to be kept to our self. We must learn to keep things to our self, even though sometimes it can be hard to do so. Your ability to keep confidences is measure of your ability to be trusted and perhaps more important it is one of the most critical component to your overall success as a leader. Lifeimaged states,” Being able to keep a confidence builds people’s confidence in you” (Booth). This helps you build trust with your colleagues. It will also help you build a better relationship with them. They will be more open and respect you as a person. You will definitely gain trust and credibility. Credibility is your reputation, it is how others believe or trust in you. So we have to be aware of the stuff we do and how we do it. Always ask yourself if the thing that you are doing will help you build credibility, if the answer is no don’t do it. It takes
